Even with thorough, anti-aging skin care, your face will start to show signs of aging like skin laxity and fine lines over time. Today’s nonsurgical advances mean that you can rejuvenate the skin without waiting until signs of aging become severe enough for a surgical facelift. Depending on your unique situation, there are many treatment options available. Here are just three options for skin rejuvenation.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Aspire Plastic Surgery offers two major types of laser skin resurfacing: Halo Laser Resurfacing and BBL Photofacials. Each of these treatments focuses on fine lines and wrinkles, sunspots, scarring, and hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone.
A laser skin resurfacing treatment typically starts with a topical anesthetic, after which the laser energy is directed to the treatment area. These treatments do not take long and are minimally uncomfortable. After treatment, the skin is usually red and may be swollen. Ablative laser treatments will result in the top layer of skin peeling away. However, downtime is minimal, and patients can usually return to normal activity after a few days.
Botox® and Dermal Fillers
Injectable treatments are growing more and more popular, and for good reason. Botox® remains the most common injectable. This neuromodulator temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles as you make different facial expressions. It is especially effective for softening wrinkles around the eyes or in the forehead. Aspire Plastic Surgery also use the products Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau®, which work very similarly to Botox®.
Dermal fillers, including Radiesse®, and Juvéderm®, can fill in sunken areas of the face and the creases throughout the mouth and nose area. The result is a smoother, plumper, and more youthful appearance.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin in order to exfoliate the outermost layer, which is composed of damaged and dead skin cells. Different types of chemical peels can address a variety of issues ranging from fine lines to deep-set wrinkles and sagging. After a chemical peel, the skin will be red and eventually flake off, revealing a fresh, rejuvenated complexion.
