Our Philosophy

You can uncover a fresh new face with a chemical peel.

Acne and chicken pox scars; brown spots and uneven coloring; wrinkles around your mouth; crow’s feet; sun damage…we wear our lives on our faces.

But you can uncover a fresh new face with a chemical peel.

A chemical peel is a skin rejuvenation procedure offered in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In a chemical peel, the skin is treated with a chemical designed to remove the damaged outer layer of your skin. There are several types of chemicals varying in strength; chemical peels also can vary in the length of time left on the skin or how thick they are applied. Your skin quality will determine the type of chemical peel for you.

Before Your Procedure

If you are scheduled for a deep chemical peel, you may need to apply special creams, lotions, or gels to your skin for a few weeks before your procedure. You also may be required to stop taking certain medications, and you should avoid Retin-A or Retinol two days prior to the treatment. You will have to wait two weeks after having Botox before you can have a peel. Your chemical peel will be performed in the comfort of our office. You’ll likely receive topical or local anesthesia. If you’re scheduled for a deep peel, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you home after your procedure.

Your Procedure

Your treatment may begin with dermaplaning, in which the technician uses a scalpel and a delicate touch to lightly remove any superficial hair from your skin. This allows the solution to penetrate better. A chemical solution will be applied to your entire face or a smaller area to treat. The type of solution, the length of time the solution is left on, and the amount of solution used are all customized to your skin. We use SkinMedica products to offer three types of peels:

SkinMedica Illuminize Peel®

  • Enhances skin glow and radiance
  • Helps restore a more youthful appearance
  • Improves clarity, color, and skin texture
  • Minimal downtime and discomfort
  • Appropriate for first-time chemical peel patients or patients looking for a gentle, very superficial peel
  • Little or no visible peeling

SkinMedica Vitalize Peel®

  • Improves the skin’s overall appearance
  • Minimizes fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightens pores and improves skin texture
  • Minimizes acne scarring
  • Effective for sun damage, freckles, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Achieve visible improvement after one treatment
  • Optimal results after a series of treatments
  • Peeling for as long as a week after the procedure; some areas may peel twice

SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel™

  • Effective for use on skin with sun damage, melasma, pigmentary changes, and acne scarring
  • Permeates deep into the topmost layers of your skin
  • Fast-acting and powerful

A novel synthetic surfactant, Isoceteth-20, creates more uniform peeling while controlling the penetration of salicylic acid, reducing skin irritation associated with the stronger chemical peels without diminishing the peeling effect. Noticeable improvement with just one peel. Maintenance is recommended every eight weeks. Peeling for as long as two weeks after the procedure; some areas may peel twice.

Understanding the Risks

Chemical peels are very popular—they’re used frequently with great success. But every plastic surgery procedure comes with risks. Those specific to a chemical peel include:

  • Scarring
  • Infection
  • Abnormal pigmentation
  • Pores may appear larger
  • Skin may not tan evenly
  • Latent cold sores may be activated

Dr. Lee will address these risks during your consultation. Please let him know if you have specific questions or concerns. Many spas and other facilities are now offering chemical peels without any oversight. But Dr. Lee is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has carefully trained his staff to deliver the same thorough, careful approach. You can trust the Aspire specialists to provide a safe procedure and the best outcome possible.

Results of Your Procedure

While you may not be able to see the final results for several days or even months thanks to the pinkness of your skin, you’ll likely be delighted in the end to notice a fresher, younger-looking face in the mirror, free of the marks left behind by the years. With a deep peel, the results will be quite long-lasting—even 10 to 20 years! Aspire also offers a line of truly remarkable skin care products that will help protect and reduce future damage to your skin. The key to truly successful chemical peel is maintaining an open line of communication with Dr. Lee and adhering to his recommendations. He and his team are eager to respond to your questions and concerns—they are your partners in achieving your desired results.

I can speak about someone whom I was in a romantic relationship with who went to see Dr. Lee for a consultation and then to have two fairly significant procedures done. From the very first meeting, all the way through her recovery from both procedures, Dr. Lee and his staff were nothing but the best they could be. I was just amazed how upbeat and positive Dr. Lee and his staff made her feel every step of the way. Dr. Lee is not just a gifted, board-certified plastic surgeon with 22 years of experience who has an amazing staff of caring people. He CHANGES PEOPLE’S LIVES!! He is gifted, he is talented, he is polite, friendly, articulate and, most of all, humble. He does not brag or boast or have an ego. He has a gift and love for what he does, and it shows in how he does it with every single patient every single day. The Fort Wayne medical community is blessed and fortunate to have Dr. Lee as one of its members, and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our community.

Dr. Lee is the best doctor I have ever encountered. He cares and explains everything thoroughly, and he especially takes the time to talk and listen to his patients. He is an outstanding doctor! He does a great job at what he does!

I really appreciated the concern and personal touch of receiving a post-op phone call by both the nurse and Dr. Lee. It is comforting to know that Dr. Lee is a very talented artist whose skills tie in with his work. I absolutely love and enjoy seeing Dr. Lee’s photography displayed on the walls and in the books in his office.

Request a Consultation

If you’re considering a chemical peel, schedule a consultation at our Fort Wayne office. We will examine your skin and talk about your goals for the procedure. Mild peels create small changes, but the risk of permanent skin lightening or scarring is lower. Fine lines, deep acne scars, and sun damage all require a different approach. We will recommend the type of chemical peel that is best for you.

Be prepared to share your medical history, including previous surgeries, medical conditions, drug allergies, and current medications. Tell us if you have had previous chemical peels and share any acne treatments that you have had, particularly the use of Accutane-T or Retin-A. After your consultation, you can experience the benefits of a chemical peel performed by your Fort Wayne-certified practitioner.
