During Sculptra Treatment

Sculptra injections are performed in-office and typically take less than an hour. The product is mixed with sterile water before being injected into the treated area. Using a fine needle or cannula, Dr. Lee places multiple injections throughout the treatment area, such as the cheek region, jawline contour, or sunken cheeks, depending on your specific needs.

Most patients describe the procedure as tolerable, with only mild pain or pressure during injection. A topical anesthetic or local numbing agent can be applied for added comfort. Unlike other dermal fillers that provide instant correction, the effects of poly-L-lactic acid occur gradually as your body responds by producing collagen.

After Sculptra Treatment

To promote even distribution, patients are instructed to massage the treated area several times a day for five minutes, over the course of five days. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun or heat exposure for the first 24 hours to reduce the risk of swelling or bruising, otherwise, most people are able to return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

Side Effects & Risks

Following your procedure, you may notice temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or itching at the injection site. These side effects are common and typically resolve within a few days.

In rare cases, lumps, nodules, or allergic reactions may occur; hypertrophic scarring is possible but uncommon.
