Before Your Procedure

Ahead of your treatment, we recommend avoiding alcohol and caffeine, medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin, retinol, and foods high in sodium and sugar. Avoiding these things can help control swelling and bruising afterward. 

Your Procedure

Kybella requires a series of injections under the chin. A topical anesthetic will be applied to keep you comfortable throughout the session. Once you’re ready, the treatment area will be sterilized, and Kybella will be carefully injected in a small grid pattern under your chin with a very fine needle. This helps ensure the product is evenly distributed around the area. Afterward, you can return home.

After Your Procedure

For the first 24 hours after treatment, you will need to avoid hot environments like saunas, hot tubs, or hot showers since these can exacerbate swelling. You should also avoid strenuous exercise during this time. It’s best to sleep on your back with your head propped on a couple pillows to keep swelling down. Continue to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sodium for the same reason. We recommend using a cool pack on the area for 15 minutes at a time to help with swelling and discomfort. Swelling is typically at its worst for 3-5 days after treatment and will begin to subside over the following weeks. You may also have some slight tenderness, burning, and tingling in the area, but it will subside with time. 

You may begin to see results around 4-6 weeks after your first session, especially with subsequent treatments. These are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and most patients require 2-3 treatment sessions. Our team will help you estimate how many treatments are needed for your aesthetic goals.
