The ABCs of Vitamins’ Effects on the Skin–Vitamin K

At Aspire Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa, we recognize the importance of vitamins in your skin-care products and in your diet. So we’re going to spend a little time talking about those with the greatest impact on your skin’s appearance.

Vitamin K is fragile—it degrades in the presence of oxygen and light. Any product that contains vitamin K must be manufactured under non-oxygen conditions with yellow lights. Vitamin K is used to treat bruising in trauma and surgery patients, as well as blood vessel disorders of the skin such as rosacea and telangiectasias, or small, widened blood vessels on the skin. The best sources of vitamin K are cabbage, turnip greens, broccoli, lettuce, spinach and green tea. So go green in your diet!
