The 411 on Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty (Tummy tuck):

In the first 4 years as Aspire we have performed 174 abdominoplasties, which includes 31 lower body lifts (circumferential abdominoplasty) and 12 Panniculectomies (no muscle work).

Extra skin, fatty tissue, stretch marks and laxity of the muscles are the prime indications for an Abdominoplasty. This is often due to pregnancy, but can occur with standard weight loss. The extra tissue from just above the pubic area to the bellybutton is typically removed and the separation (diastasis) of the underlying muscles is brought together (plicated) to flatten and give the internal stability to the repair. The incision is hidden low below the panty or belt line and normal clothing.

When an Abdominoplasty is combined with a breast augmentation or breast lift, we affectionately call this a “Mommy Makeover”. Enhancing the breasts and flattening the tummy are ideal procedures in combination as each compliments and enhances the other.
