Laser procedures are becoming increasingly popular as people look for ways to improve their appearance without surgery.

Laser procedures are minimally invasive with simple recovery and can leave you feeling rejuvenated while lessening the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, or other skin concerns.

So, what are laser procedures and how do they work?

How Laser Procedures Work

Though the exact process can vary among different procedures, laser skin procedures use medical devices that safely and precisely target damaged or irregular areas of skin. Lasers emit targeted pulses of high-energy light that can remove hair, treat acne, smooth wrinkles, and repair sun damage.

Laser procedures direct an intense light beam emitted by a device to destroy the outer layer of skin, called the epidermis. It also heats the dermis — the underlying layer — to create better skin tone and texture by stimulating collagen production. Collagen is the protein that helps your skin look plump and healthy. However, over time it becomes more difficult for the body to produce collagen on its own.

The duration of each laser procedure varies depending on the type and the size of the treatment area. As the treated area heals, the new skin emerges smoother and firmer.

There are many kinds of laser procedures. The type of laser procedure that’s right for you depends on your goals and skin type.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing can improve the appearance of stubborn skin challenges including uneven skin tone, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and visible signs of aging.

At Aspire Plastic Surgery, we offer a Halo® Laser Resurfacing treatment that uses hybrid fractional laser system that combines deep dermal remodeling with epidermal renewal to trigger your skin’s natural healing response.

A topical anesthetic will be applied before your Halo® Laser Resurfacing treatment so you’ll feel little to no discomfort during the procedure. Swelling and redness are common following your treatment and can last up to seven days. We recommend skin protection for at least the first 48 hours. Your skin will peel after a few days as part of the healing process.

Following your treatment, you should notice improved skin tone and texture and an overall more youthful appearance.

Laser Rejuvenation

Alternatively, you may opt for a laser rejuvenation procedure if you have skin damage like age spots, uneven pigmentation, spider veins, broken capillaries, or rosacea.

These skin issues are directly addressed by our BBL Photofacials. These treatments work to improve the appearance of damaged skin by treating the problem areas to promote the production of new collagen.

Laser rejuvenation is minimally invasive with few side effects and little downtime. We find the best results in patients who receive a series of six treatments, though you’ll enjoy some improvement after your first session. You may experience swelling, itching, redness, and tenderness as the treated area heals.

Laser Hair Reduction

Laser Hair Reduction is another popular cosmetic procedure that we offer at Aspire Plastic Surgery. These treatments help remove hair from your face, arms, legs, and other areas of your body – without a razor, wax, or bleach.

Pain is minimal with laser hair reduction and anesthesia is not usually needed. Depending on the area you’re having treated, these laser treatments can take anywhere from several minutes to several hours. After your session, you may experience redness and swelling for a short time and your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. It’s all worth it when you walk away with smooth and silky skin.
